I am a Huuuuge admirer and believer of this Quote. My belief was renewed when i saw the movie Akeelah and the Bee, where this quote is quoted a couple of times…the movie itself is inspirational, although about a much younger girl than me…..it reminded me of those challenging times of participation in competitions at school, an urge to prove myself…a fear of being judged, compulsion to downplay my abilities so my friends wont alienate me…and the desire to be appreciated for who I am and want to be recognised for my abilities…….. Our Deepest Fear Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, now our darknes, that most frishtens us. We ask ourselves, “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?” Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people wont feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us. It is not just in some of us; It is in all of us, in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

This is such a great poem. It will make everyone feel so good about themselves. It has certainly worked for me, lifted my spirits when they were down. Thanks for introducing this to me!
